===== Installation =====================================
VERSAMAP installation is a simple process of copying the VERSAMAP
file(s) to a directory called VERSAMAP on your hard disk. If you
obtained VERSAMAP as a zip file (i.e. VMAP151.ZIP), you must unzip
the zip file in the VERSAMAP directory.
The following instructions describe how to install VERSAMAP from
floppy disk drive A, or from a directory (C:\SOURCE) on your
hard disk. If you are installing VERSAMAP from your hard disk, you
must change the name of the source directory (C:\SOURCE) in the
following example to the actual name of your source directory.
The files will be installed in a target directory called VERSAMAP.
You may change the name of the target directory if you wish.
a. Copy the file(s) from your source drive and directory to your
hard disk by typing one of the following commands at the DOS
prompt, and then pressing Enter.
from drive A XCOPY A: C:\VERSAMAP\ /S /V
from C:\SOURCE XCOPY C:\SOURCE C:\VERSAMAP\ /S /V
b. If the VERSAMAP files are contained in a zip file, unzip the zip
file in the VERSAMAP directory.
The XCOPY command will copy all files and subdirectories from your
source directory to the target directory VERSAMAP on your hard
drive. The XCOPY command will create a VERSAMAP directory if it
does not already exist on your hard drive. If a VERSAMAP directory
already exists on your hard drive, the XCOPY command will overwrite
any files of the same name in the existing VERSAMAP directory.
VERSAMAP is now installed. Store the original VERSAMAP file(s) in
a safe place as your backup.

===== About VENDINFO Files =============================
Each VENDINFO.DIZ file contains extensive information about a product.
This "human-readable" section is followed by a compressed data record
useable by automated tools. The data record allows BBSes and other
distributors to automate package handling, and provides users with a
wealth of product information. VENDINFO tools (free viewer for users,
free or inexpensive processors for distributors, editors for authors)
are available from many sources, including the originators of VENDINFO:
